Synergex assists Madeira Regency Palace Hotel in RCC migration to Linux

The move from SCO OpenServer opens path to Windows

Gold River, CA – March 25th, 2013 – After years of running the RCC Resort Management Solution on SCO OpenServer hardware, the management at Madeira Regency Palace Hotel has opted to migrate the RCC software to a modern server running RedHat Enterprise Linux.

The migration, which included a split of old data between two business units, was accomplished in less than three days. The systems were brought down for less than an hour during the final cut-over, when data was transferred and the internal network updated to point to the new server.

The end users at Regency Palace Hotel were largely unaware of the migration, which occurred seamlessly overnight and without any loss to their customized functionality.

The migration off of SCO was a time-sensitive issue, and Regency Palace opted to move the entire solution to Linux as the most expedient method. However, the move may be temporary. During the process, Regency Palace Hotel worked with Synergex to lay the groundwork for moving the RCC solution to a Windows server. Current plans are to migrate the Regency RCC solution one final time – this time from Linux to Windows – in 2014.

Located in Funchal, the 5-Star Madeira Regency Palace Hotel overlooks the natural beach of Praia Formosa, and offers spectacular views over the Atlantic and Cabo Girão. With its Portuguese Colonial architecture and luxurious custom-made furnishings, the Madeira Regency Palace provides an ideal setting for a most memorable holiday experience.
